This week’s maritime VHF traffic was led by a boater reporting a child being dragged beside the running outboard motor of a moving fishing vessel near the Maritime Museum. Additional traffic captured a Coast Guard search for a 54-year-old man last seen in the water without a life jacket near Long Beach’s Foxtrot 9 Anchorage and a report of an apparently unoccupied green skiff on the rocks beside ammunition bunkers across from the Point Loma submarine base.
There’s an outboard-motor fishing boat—a small center console—dragging a child behind it while the motor is on. It’s right outside of the Maritime Museum. I’m just trying to report it because it looks extremely dangerous. The kid is right next to the motor.

The Coast Guard has received a report of one person in the water at position 33°40.779′ North, 118°08.334′ West, in the vicinity of Long Beach Foxtrot 9 Anchorage. The person in the water is a 54-year-old male named Anthony, approximately 350 pounds, last seen wearing a black T-shirt and no life jacket. All mariners are requested to keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible, and report any sightings to the Coast Guard. Break. This is Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles–Long Beach, out.
Just a heads-up: right across the harbor from the submarine base, you’ve got a little green skiff on the rocks beside the ammunition bunkers. You may be able to see it on your camera, looking in that direction, roughly in line with the degaussing range. I don’t see anybody aboard
