This week’s San Diego maritime VHF traffic was led by a disabled boater drifting toward the Mexican shoreline with fading batteries and no contact with his assistance provider. Additional traffic captured USCG Sector San Diego issuing a Pan Pan for a reported man overboard and a 42-foot trawler disabled by a blown hose just 100 yards from Zuniga Jetty.
Well, I do have Vessel Assist, but I’m drifting into the Mexican—you know, I’m drifting toward the shore in Mexico here—and I haven’t been able to communicate with anybody but you right now.
I have Vessel Assist, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of them. So, if they could get out here within half an hour, I’d be fine. But other than that, I’m going to need some help.

Yes, I just blew a hose entering San Diego Harbor. I’m out by Point Loma, pretty much by the lighthouse, but on the inside of the channel, only about 100 yards from the sunken jetty, over.
